RAMBLINGS FROM THE TK
---------------------------------------------

It's Like This...

"Start with the bass, build upon with a fresh sound, the years of struggle be the thorns and the end presents the crown."

Beloved Won, my good friend wrote this on one of his beautiful graffitti prints hanging in my room. Building the fresh sound is the state I be in right now. Its not an easy process at all, but the journey is the destination!

Many times I find myself trying too hard to make music instead of letting it naturally flow.

Many times I'm too hard on myself and don't enjoy my creations. As my buddy Nolan Henry and I discussed this week, we can both be so over-critical, we are afraid to even try for the fear of not satisfying the perfectionist within.

"Could be a hit, could be a miss but if I never try what's the point of all this?"

Ummm...basically what I'm sayin' is that from now on I want to just make songs with whoever wants to and whatever comes out of it comes out of it. Whether its a TK album, a Complex Souls album, Crown of Thorns Crew album, a compilation, a mostly-beats album, an experimental electronic/trip-hop album, me helping with someone else's album like Lingo, an album with I.P.....whateva. No more announcements, no more stressing....I'm a just do it. And hopefully y'all will hear some beautiful results.

One thing I remember from going to church this past week...they were talking about a prayer service last Friday where they had the craziest results with the most minimal of planning (human planning that is). God did his work and the prayer was the best ever.

I'm going to apply that same theory to this music. I'm giving it up to God and whatever happens happens. No deadlines, restrictions or expectations other than maximum creativity.

One thing that the Castle Pub show taught me was that this gift of music isn't about me at all. Its about people (as I thought would happen at the conclusion of the last RFTK).

I did a few songs that some felt and some didn't, but I met a lot of people who gave me nothing but love. Matt Reid, L.S., Deme, Meln, I.P., Cosm, Cam, Nathan, Angel, Jen, Ecto, Belo, Mike K. etc. etc. etc.

The biggest thing I've gained since I've started making beats and rhyming is the ability to meet people and build with them....music has just been a bridge for friendships.

With those friendships, God's will can be done in all of our lives. Peace. You have survived another random rumbling for my inner depths. Watch your steps. Give thanks for breath.

And remember: Don't wait too late.

God bless.
